Successful

All three tests are successful. You are now able to participate in your virtual meeting.

Failure

At least one of your tests is not conclusive, which does not guarantee you a quality virtual meeting.

If you are having difficulties, you can contact the Technical support for patients by the Centre de soutien des services numériques en santé (CSSNS) or you can Book a telephone appointment with a technician.

Prior to participating in a teleconsultation (virtual meeting), it is important to verify the proper functioning of some parameters, such as sound, video or your Internet connection. This will ensure that your equipment meets the requirements of a quality virtual meeting. You are therefore invited to perform the following tests.

All the steps involved in preparing for a teleconsultation can be found on the Participate in a teleconsultation as a patient page.

Warning

The preliminary tests do not necessarily determine that your teleconsultation will take place. They allow you to make sure that it can take place in the best possible technical conditions. This is why, even if one or more tests were to fail, this would not jeopardize the holding of your teleconsultation on the dates and times agreed upon with your health care institution.

Preparing the test

Prior to testing, always make sure to.

  • Use the equipment you will have during your teleconsultation.
  • Use a device with a webcam, microphone and speakers. These peripherals can be built into or external to the device.
  • Be connected to the same internet network that will be used during your teleconsultation.
  • Be set up in the same location as your teleconsultation.

Internet connection speed test

The purpose of the test is to make sure that your Internet connection is at least 10 Mbps. Please note that this test does not evaluate the maximum speed of your Internet connection but rather an estimated speed.

Requirement met

The estimated Internet connection speed meets the quality requirements for a virtual meeting.

Low internet speed

The estimated speed of your Internet connection is insufficient to guarantee a quality virtual meeting. If you are experiencing difficulties connecting to a virtual meeting, we remind you that you can contact the appointment service of your health care institution.

If you are having difficulties, you can contact the Technical support for patients by the Centre de soutien des services numériques en santé (CSSNS) or you can Book a telephone appointment with a technician.

Video

The purpose of the test is to make sure that your camera is working properly and that your environment is ideal (lighting, framing and image quality) for holding a teleconsultation.

Recommendations :

  • Be visible.
  • Do not stand against the light.
  • Adjust the lighting if necessary.
  • Make sure your camera is not obstructed or being used by another application.

Make sure you allow the application to access your camera if asked.

Based on the recommendations above, are you satisfied with the quality of your image ?

Requirement met

Your camera is working properly and your image quality is deemed satisfactory.

Video test failed

Your camera is not working properly or the quality of your image is unsatisfactory. It is also possible that your camera is already being used by another application or access to your camera is blocked.

If you are having difficulties, you can contact the Technical support for patients by the Centre de soutien des services numériques en santé (CSSNS) or you can Book a telephone appointment with a technician.

Audio

The purpose of the test is to make sure that your audio devices (speakers, headphones, microphone) are working properly and that the audio quality of your setup is optimal for holding a teleconsultation.

Recommendations :

  • Find a quiet, private place.
  • Turn off the radio and television.
  • Use headphones with a microphone for better sound quality.

Make sure you allow the application to access your microphone if asked.

To verify that your audio system is working properly and connected to your device, please say a few words.
